TORONTO COMICS ART FESTIVAL 2024

TORONTO COMICS ART FESTIVAL 2024

Colton Fox is thrilled to have been a guest at the Toronto Comics Art Festival (TCAF) alongside his comics partner Beige Blum.

At this event Colton Fox debuted several new self published comic projects.

Witch Hazel: Colton Fox and Beige Blum debuted a new issue of their comic series Witch Hazel. This issue, appropriately titled Witch Hazel: Trouble At TCAF is set at TCAF and follows Hazel as she struggles to save the artists at the event who have fallen under the spell of exploitative arcane contracts. She must try to rescue the artists who stand to lose both their art and themselves. This issue is a love letter to artists, specifically the Toronto arts community who have inspired Colton Fox’s own artistic journey. This issue was also funded with the support of a grant from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Ontario Government.

Doodle Duck: Colton Fox and Danny Williams debuted their new comic Doodle Duck, an over 40 page adaptation of a lost 90s cartoon that has been described as “Saturday morning cartoons meet the bleak reality of weekdays” and is a unique blend of humor and hard-hitting satire, equal parts chaos and comedy, tackling everything from prison labor to big pharma greed. This comic features four stories about a young duck named Doodle, who tries to navigate both his chaotic home and the dangers of the modern world.

24 Hour Comic: After printing both Doodle Duck and Witch Hazel, Colton found himself with a day before he had to leave Kingston to Toronto, and decided to push himself to complete a 24 Hour Comic Challenge where he would Write, Draw, Print and Staple an entire comic in 24 hours. Colton succeeded in this unnecessary torture by creating a 12 page comic that recounts his time spending thousands of dollars on Pokémon cards during the pandemic lockdown of 2020.

The event exceeded his expectations in terms of visitor turnout and comic sales. Colton would like to thank everyone that came to his booth, stayed and chatted comics, and said words of support and kindness.

TCAF aka The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is an internationally acclaimed comic book festival held annually in Toronto, Ontario.
